I had a chance to meet Peter Jennings a couple years ago. He was a great, down to earth guy. Didn't even hesitate to take a picture with me and autograph his book.
Peter Jennings was one of the few voices in the U.S. media who was committed to telling the truth when it came to the Middle East. He knew a lot about the Arab world because he spent a great amount of time there. In an interview with Phil Donahue once, Peter was asked, "Some people accuse you of being pro-Palestinian." Peter replied with a smile, "Pro-Palestinian as opposed to what?" He was one of my favorite news anchors. He had quit smoking for a long time, he came back after September 11. I think the reason why he came back was because he had found out that the hijackers were Arab. I bet he was like, "After all these years of trying to paint a better picture for Arabs, this shit happens...F*** it...I need a cigarette." :p
He'll be greatly missed.

Even though they might not have let much of it air...
